Tamrac Pro 12 Review!!!

The Pro 5612 from Tamrac was build specifically for any photographer that has the ____ to “tote” it.. Its rugged, rigid layout is like the frame of a pro bodybuilder. Its quality is incomparable and it’s been a pure pleasure to carry it for the last week.. My perspective as I unboxed this work of art was “this is a tough freaking bag!” and I was right. Even as I was loading my gear into it I could feel the quality, security, and could truly see that I had nothing to worry about with my equipment in this storage system. The Pro 612 Holds 2 professional DSLR bodies with lenses attached, and in any configuration could hold 4-5 extra lenses and a flash. In my setup (using the patented “Double Lens Bridge”) I have 2 pro bodies in the top (lenses attached), 2 pro lenses in the center upright compartments, 2 speedlights in the other uprights, and 2 more lenses stored in the horizontal compartments located under the camera bodies.  The “Windowpane Mesh Pockets” are an essential asset to the Pro 612, as its imperative to my workflow as a pro photographer to be able to have quick, un-restricted access to my gear at the “drop of a hat”. The Windowpane Mesh Pockets allow you to see the contents of the zipper secured compartment therefore allowing you to always know where your gear is at all times, even down to the smallest pieces. My personal favorite feature of the Pro 12 is that the outer shell and zippers are completely waterproof (“Storm Proof “as it’s advertised) providing a safe environment for your pro gear in any condition. The “Zip-Drop” front pockets provide quick access to the under compartments below your cameras, and also features Windowpane Mesh Pockets made into the doors of the access panel. The Pro 612 also has 2 foam-padded quick access pockets at each end of the bag. Finally the Pro 612 features Tamrac’s patented “Memory & Battery Management System” that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries. You always want to be “ready for the shot” and accidentally putting a full memory card, or a dead battery in your camera could cause you to lose that “several-thousand dollar shot” you’ve been waiting 6 hours to get. Using the patented “RedFlag” system allows you to quickly identify your gear and never miss that shot again (well, at least you couldn’t blame it on the bag lol).

Pro 612 Features:

  • Storm-Tight Zipper
  • Patented “Double Lens-Bridge”
  • Foam Padded Quick-Access end Pockets
  • BioCurve Shoulder Strap (Strap accessory system compatible)
  • “ZipDrop” front pockets
  • Foam-Padded rigid platform (in bottom for shock protection)
  • Zippered Back Pocket (for maps or tickets)
  • Patented “Red Flag” Memory and Battery Management System
  • Windowpane Mesh Pockets
  • Main Compartment is COMPLETELY Foam Padded
  • Piggy-Back Pocket in Rear
  • Tamrac 5 Year Warranty

Being able to carry the Pro 612 around for the last week has been incredible, and I’m considering making the Pro 612 my primary bag. The quality is incredible and I could not have asked for anything more out of a camera bag for my pro gear. You should get one as well 🙂
